Wonderful Singapore (Part 1)

Have you ever been to Singapore or wanted to go? I'm sure many of you had heard that Singapore is a very strict and organized country. Well... you didn't hear wrong. Heck, the Singaporeans themselves are aware of that and made fun of it. This is what you'll find most in souvenir stores.

This is Singapore's Technology Mall. I bet it's all computer geeks' favorite place to hang out. Look at all the brands and variety the mall has!

Be sure to visit the mall when you visit Singapore.

Then we went to the Singapore zoo (The night safari? I don't quite remember. We went too many zoos!) So here we are with the snake charmer. The yellow one was sleeping after being fed. So the snake charmer let us have the green buddy. I was pretty brave at first, having the snake around my shoulder. Then it started to coil its tail around my neck. I thought I was going to die. Thank god it was just giving me a teasing squeeze. If it was hungry... I don't dare to imagine. Overall, quite fun.

Next, there's the Fish Pedicure. It was a little bit awkward feeding fish your dead skin. Anyway if you are new like me, you start with the little fish. It's less ticklish. The big ones might nibble your toes away... just kidding.

You can feed the friendly sting ray with fish meat ($3 per cup).
Look how cute it is! It's like smiling. If I remember correctly, there are two types of sting rays there. One on the left and another breed on the left. How to feed them? So you pinch the meat between your fingers and place your palm against the glass. The sting ray will come and nibble it off. Don't worry. It doesn't bite you. They are super uber friendly. When they close up on you, you can feel the soft texture of their belly. An amazing experience.

Pretty color changing jelly fish. When one in the tank changes, the others quickly imitate it and change. A beautiful sight to witness. They are like glowing. So pretty...

We tried out this strange activity. It's a tobagan I believe. Basically it speeds down the hill really quickly. This photo is taken at the beginning of the ride where drivers practice how to control the wheels. Then at the end of the line, you get to take the lift back to the starting point. It will probably take hours to walk up that hill by foot. As you can see, it is quite high. I was so scared of falling over. Haha. Silly me. As you ride along, you are granted the magnificent view of the harbor.

Beautiful, isn't it? Next week, we will see the fun side of Singapore and places you can go!

Shabu Shabu BBQ Korean Restaurant

I had passed by this Korean restaurant everyday and saw a lot of people dining in there so I decided to give it a try. The interior decors is quite superb and neat. The place itself is quite spacious and the seats are comfy. The food is also huge in portion. The waitress was very friendly and smiley. Overall experience is pretty good. Now let see what we ate!
As you can see, the atmosphere is splendid. I went there during lunch so I missed out this beautiful sunset. The lighting was nice too during the early afternoon so no big lost! Ah... again just by looking at this place, I feel all hungry again. Hehe. Another cool thing about Shabu Shabu Korean BBQ is the golf stimulation. There is a section in the nice corner of the restaurant with a TV and a golf set (game). I didn't exactly have the chance to see it properly but I thought it was quite a cute idea to include the golf stimulation.
Disclaimer: The three top photos are taken from Shabu Shabu's official website.
So we ordered 3 BBQ dishes (1 Samgeopsal & 2 Bulgogi) @12.95 each and a short rib soup with some transparent noodles called Galbitang ($11.95). They gave us plenty of sidedishes + 4 rice (4 people). I love the tea they serve. Very delicious. Fragrance but not too strong. Just perfect.

You can see the sidedishes and the plate of 2 Bulgogi combined. The sidedishes have some potatoes, kimchi, seaweed (very yummy)
That is the plate of 2 orders of Bulgogi combined. So it is around $25.90. The portion is huuuge. My dad and I nearly stuffed ourselves to finish it. Don't let the view deceives you. Let your stomach decide once you actually finish the whole plate. By far, it is very worthy compare to other Korean restaurants I had been too. I went to this shabby looking Korean restaurant in Chinatown once. The food is good but the portion is not sufficient. We probably ordered the dish twice and were nowhere near as full as we did with Shabu Shabu.

This is the Galbitang. It's not very big but it's just for the taste. :) We ordered it for my little brother so it's good enough for a little fellow.
3 beautiful strips of Samgeoupsal (pork belly). Aren't they beautiful?

Well, this is what the end product looks like. You see a bit of Samgeoupsal on the top and a bunch of sizzling Bulgogi. I took this shot so that you can see how wonderful those sizzling bubbles are. The smell is incredibly delicious. The low flame that keeps everything hot and fresh. I would definitely return there again!

Great news is that while doing research for this blog entry, I went to their website and saw they have free coupon to giveaway. (I wish I saw it earlier... *sulk*) Well, good for you readers! To make your life easy, I embedded the official website link in the picture so just click on the picture and off you go! Enjoy!

Online Shopping Experiences

Online shopping! If you are new (or interested) to the online shopping trend, relax and enjoy this blog. Ok, my very first purchase online was with Amazon. Buying books. If you are scared of shopping online, my recommendation is that you start with some really, really trusted websites. Most of the super uber famous stores should be safe. Once you purchase from the trusted websites and got your orders delivered to your house, you will feel more daring afterward and venture to the less popular sites.

I strongly recommend you do some research before buying. You want to know their reputation, their policy, etc. Normally I read about other customers' reviews on places such as Resellerratings (http://www.resellerratings.com/). Not only do you get an idea how the stores deliver their promises but you also feel more secure after reading the good reviews. Also, it's important to know the store's return policy. The policy differs from stores so you might want to know what exactly you are dealing with.

Now I will talk about some experiences I have with online shopping and some awesome online stores...

Let's start from local to international goodies. For local deals, I visit Teambuy and RedFlagDeals for updates. I believe they are Canadian websites. So if you are in Canada, you're lucky. If not, don't panic. I'm sure you can find your local coupon stores if you search it up. Anyhow, the deals these sites have are pretty good.

http://www.redflagdeals.com/

Here are some deals we bought:

  • Yeh, Yogurt and Cafe --$5 for $10--

You make your own delicious yogurt ice cream with all sort of yummy topping. It's like going to Honeyduke at Hogsmeade... delicious!

  • Beaver Tail and Moozoo --$5 for $10--

Doesn't the food look so yummy? Totally worthy! You can see how a Beavertail looks like in the first picture. It's on the board. You can also buy Moozoo (smoothie). Look at those beautiful ice cream. Seriously, some flavors gave me toothache. That's how sweet it is. And I have high sweet tolerance! But anything can be cured with a nice, large smoothie made of fresh fruits!

That's it for local for the moment.

Now we head to international online shopping! Fly awaaaaayyyy to....

Amazon!

I bought really the most random books from Amazon like Diablo: Legacy of Blood, Hunger Games (Yes I read it before it was even cool. I was such a hipster back then), a bunch of Harry Potter books, a Karen Miller's trilogy and unfortunately, I also bought some random books that I don't quite like. It happens. I was tricked by the beautiful book covers *insert guilty, kick-puppy face*. They usually come in a brown box with an Amazon smiling logo on it. The cardboard is pretty thick and hard so you don't have to be afraid of crumpled goods. From experience, the delivery is fast. Hmmm, what else? Gift certificate can be trusted. I received gift certificates on my birthday (Ahem, nerd) and I can tell you that it's safe even though it's a big amount like in the hundreds. Anyhow, Amazon is a really reliable site, at least for books. I never tried out the electronics so I can't say much. In Canada, the shipping is free if you purchase more than $25 (used to be $35 back in the days). So it's a really good deal. I loooove Free Shipping!

Visit Amazon here!

Now let's take the AliExpress!

For cheap clothing, I shop at AliExpress. The price is ridiculously cheap compare to retail stores. And my favorite thing about this site is.... FREE SHIPPING! You heard right! The shipping is free! UNCONDITIONALLY. I bought this dress for $5 and the shipping is free! Tell me where else can you find such good deal? Of course, I did a bunch of research before I buy from AliExpress because the deal is just too good to be true. Much to my relief, the goods came by Airmail and are good quality. They don't tear and the material is soft and comfortable! So yes, I will be buying more from them.

To buy Things From Another World (TFAW)!
I was actually searching for a specific product (Final Fantasy Dissidia Squall Play Arts Kai .... see my old posts in August) when I came across this site. It was offering the cheapest Squall so I immediately jumped onto it. Of course. With a great amount of research. Much to my surprise, the Resellerrating was very very very positive. So I was sort of suspicious but I still gave it a try anyway. Now that I received the goods, I understand why people are so happy with their purchase.
Let me explain.

I bought Squall for $29.99 whereas the retail price is $49.99. So I was already pretty happy. So the box came like this. It has little cute Styrofoam to protect the gorgeous Squall box. At first I saw the little flyer with Zero Month. Then beneath it was Squall's box. It was only a day later that I was letting my baby brother play with the Styrofoam that we realized there was SOMETHING ELSE in there. We dispersed the Styrofoam and to our surprise.... IT'S A COMIC!
Omg. I was quite surprised. TFAW gifted me a comic. Ha! Speaking of excellent customer's satisfaction. I love their style! You gotta admit. It's pretty sweet!

So yup! Now I am uber happy (doesn't take much to make me happy, isn't it? XP)!
TFAW has a great variety of comics and figurines. You can get the comics really cheap. Lots of DC and Marvel and co! Super cheap shipping! Simply stunning. Who knows, you might get a free copy too and one free future shipping! Sweet deal!

Beautiful Malaysia (Part 1)

So summer is almost over. I just want to show you a trip I made to Malaysia. It's a beautiful place with a whole different culture and lifestyle. The place in part 1 took place on a small island called Penang. Fly to Malaysia and feel the fun!

When my family landed, it was night. This is how dawn looks like in Penang. You notice the mixture of green and concrete. It's not uncommon in Penang because there are still villages every here and there though the number is quickly shrinking. Old villages are being demolished to build new apartments and shopping malls.

You can see the coconut trees (yes Penang is famous for their coconuts that seem to be able to grow just anywhere).  You see the little villagers walking about in their village. Children playing tags around the trees. The roads in the villages are very narrowed, so only motorbikes can squeeze through, making it not so dangerous to play on the roads.

Beautiful pool on above ground level. At night, lights will shine from the bottom upward. It's gorgeous!

Now we are at the "wet market" meaning it's not the supermarket but the natural "village-ish" marketplace. Merchants sell all sorts of things there: Meat, vegetables, snacks, local dishes, cute accessories, pirated stuff. Locals who are familiar with the prices are able to bargain like crazy. Here we see a vendor who is selling coconut juice. Yummy!

This is one super delicious pastry that I strongly recommend any tourist to try out. It's called Ban Chang Kuih. It's like pancake except it's super crispy. It has flour, butter, coconuts, peanuts and corns. Oh god, sooo good! My favorite snack ever! You can buy a big size for RM 0.80 (that's like $0.25)!!!! Super cheap and super good!
