Play Arts Kai Review: Nero, Gabranth & Squall

I've decided to take the boys (Play Arts Kai) out to play in the snow. They are just so cool posing there. Besides, the lighting was perfect. I mean it brings out the cold atmosphere. I particularly like Nero's photos. His colors blend very well with the snow. They are the first who stepped on the virgin snow in my backyard.

Awesome Play Arts Gabranth and Nero posing. I lost Nero's sword in the woods (when I was photographing him among the autumn leaves... sad...). He just has his gun left which I forgot to put it on him. Still, we had a great time freezing our feet off. Gabrath's wicked swords posing.

Gabranth is very worthy for the same price as the other figurines. I mean his armor is just siiiick. Squall looks dull in comparison. But Squall has a special spot in my heart since he was the very first Play Arts Kai I bought myself. Then I was gifted Nero from Devil May Cry 4 by my amazing friends on my birthday. So they all have the same importance to me and I love them all equally. I'm like their mommy... or pimp. Hahaha.

Didn't I tell you? Nero's colors are fantastic with this lighting. It makes him so much more alive. His clothes look so real than he would look like a real man if I took a pic of him from far away.

Nero is like "I'm sexy and I know it." My beautiful boy~

Nero fell into the snow. So freaking cute. "Save me... woman... stop taking embarrassing photo of me in misery. My honor... what would Dante say?" Speaking of Dante, I really should get a Dante too... just to spike Nero. Troll Era Fey.

I nicknamed Squall the lost, pretty boy. He looks so confused. Gosh his blue eyes are so pretty. They are like... sparkling with life. So beautiful.

I was posing him with his gunblade when he toppled backward. Dayum...

And there you go. My harem of very expensive and gorgeous boys. I will be posing more photos of them in different places when I have the chance.

I also bought Jeanne (from Bayonetta) and Snow (from Final Fantasy) and will be reviewing them shortly. Stay tune for more Play Arts Kai reviews, or you can check out older reviews in the link below.

My Collectibles on Shelf

For those of you who are interested in collecting little cute things to decorate yourself, this is a post for you! If you aren't the type, scoop around. I will be talking briefly about the collectibles I have and how I acquired them. I probably spent more on them than my other purchases. That should speak volume.
I painted the ceramic dragon at a place called Ceramic Cafe years ago. It was pretty pricey. About $20 an hour to paint there... and it took me 2 hours. Yup. I'm crazy. Basically the ceramic sculpture is already provided. There are teddy bears, motorcycles, vases...etc. I picked a Dragon One. Instead of painting it just one color, I applied many 'gentle' colors on it. Then you leave your sculpture with the store for a week. They will 'bake' the ceramic. Apparently, the store likes my Baby Dragon a lot and even photographed it to add into their album. I'm sooooo proud! *shameless bragging*
Felicitations!
Votre piece a ete photographiee et apparaitra peut-etre dans notre livre d'idees! Pour vous remercier, voici un coupon de 5$ applicable sur votre prochaine visite.

Boy, my poor parents have to tolerate my gloating for the rest of the day.
Oooh, another piece of work I love! I folded this stormtrooper. It took me about an hour. I downloaded the picture from a Deviantart account and I was like "Alright, time for some crafting!" I'm pretty proud of it. :)

On the left, you see my 3 year-old brother's artwork. My dad helped him glued the pieces but it's still super adorable. I asked them to give it to me. Haha. The pink music box is also a soap box. I got it from a Canadian retail store called Winners for $14.99. Then the jar of colorful bubbles was bought from Malaysia for $10. You would of course recognize Gabranth and Squall since I talk about them sooo much in my other posts. They are $51.98 and $38.79 respectively. My precioussss...

One cannot ignore Eustass Kid. I bought him for $4.75. One of the best right-on-spot decisions I had done in my life. I was staring at him for the longest time at Otakuthon. I think the lady was getting annoyed with me because I was like ... OMG OMG OMG! then I walked away... and went back OMG OMG OMG! Yeah, I can't believe I EVEN hesitated. Love this figurine with all my heart! Flawless, very detailed and perfect. Even his grin looks sexy and evil! Kyyaaa~

I bought this artistic craft from a street merchant during my trip to Singapore. I bought it for $10. It was too cool to ignore. LOL queen of spending money on collectibles! Singapore has lots of interesting craftsmen, so does Malaysia and Indonesia (bought some wooden little people, totally cool)

Anyway this is just a small part of my collection. My computer shelf is just desk-sized. Just the tip of the iceberg. Wait till you see the others in my room. Hohohoho!

Nero Devil May Cry 4 Play Arts Kai (Part 1)

My collection of sexy men has just increased by one! So for my birthday, my friends collectively bought me Nero from Devil May Cry 4! OMG Thank you guys! For those of you who follow my blog, you probably know how much I wanted Nero from my ranting on Gabranth's post. When I opened the present, I was like OOooooOOohhh Noooo, you guys didn't do thaaattttt! I hate youuuu~ You are sooo nasty surprising me like that (while grinning and squealing like an idiot) I am very happy to have wonderful friends. Let's see what Nero has in store!

So yup! Squall and Gabranth, welcome your new friend Nero!
The first thing I noticed when I placed these hotties together is that Nero is bloody tall! Squall dwarfs him like 1 1/2 head! Well... Nero has long legs! *wink*
This picture is so baws! Gabranth looks ready for battle. Squall is sulking and brooding as usual. *pat pat* you are now the shortest... Nero is like Awww Yeaaaah~ I'm sexy and I know it!

Nero out of the [genuine] box while after eating birthday cake. He is lovely! I was immediately in love with it when I lay eyes on him. I had wanted him for so long. After a few disappointment snooping around the internet, my friends bought it for me! They bought him from Geekplastiq for $39.99. So in total, it should be around $65. True friends are amazing. *wipe tears* Fear not my friends, I will be taking lots and lots of pictures of Nero and his new buddies.
Nero is like "Whatever. I'm out of here!" ------>

New update: I would recommend people trying out Geekplastiq. The customer service is TOP NOTCH! The owner had just contacted me to thank me for blogging about their product. I think that is a very polite thing he did. I talked to my friends who bought Nero, surprisingly, they knew who I was talking about because they had contacted him before (for questioning). Apparently, Geekplastiq answers your questions very quickly. Overall experience: FANTASTIC!

His figurine is awesome. Very detailed and steady. Unlike Squall (most fragile of all 3), Nero is easy to 'stand' and twist around. His waist, lets, thighs can go 360. The only thing I was a tiny winy bit sad is that because he is sooo sturdy, his articulation is kinda limited. His arms aren't open or move around as much as Squall and Gabranth but still movable. You can probably tell just by looking at his elbows. Sooo firm and sexy. I hate how his hair blocks his beautiful eyes. *table flip*

One thing I absolutely love about Nero is his clothes. Mother of God, his outfit is amazing! They felt rough, not all plastic-ish, and it's sooo cool. It's like real leather except it's probably some sort of rubber. The texture on his clothes is Aaaamazing. Though his pants are too stiff compare to Squall's sexy pants.

I couldn't decide which shots I like best so I post them both. The camera angles gave out 2 different atmospheres and I really want to show you guys the differences.
Nero is pretty serious as a figurine. He looks way too mature than his baby-face in DMC 4. I love how his coat is bellowing (frozen forever in that position).

Oh yeah. Nero slashed Squall in half...
As I said, Squall is the most fragile of the 3 so his body tends to detach... which my eye twitched whenever it happens. Thank god for ball-joint! It always pains me to plop him back. Y U SO FRAGILE SQUALL? You already look like a girl, no need to behave like one... Man upppp.
Nero turning on Red Queen... Brooom! Brooom! Nero! I wish there's fire coming out from his sword.

Gabranth joined the stabbing. Poor Squall. he is still fighting the 2 foes. Fighto my pretty boy!
You see Nero's demonic hand. The detail is amazing. You can twist the hand around. Oh and his human hand has a small bum sticking out so that you can poke it through the sword (has a hole). That way, you don't have to force the sword on his delicate hand. Just stick into the hole and voila. lololol The same applied to his Blue Rose (gun). Interestingly, his back has a similar an edge that you can hook the Red Queen (sword) on. Super special awesome. (See top pictures for that position)
If you want to sell how Nero articulates, there are reviews on Youtube. Me? I'm just bragging about Nero and take pretty pictures of my boys! XD

O.K. Squall gave up. Lower the gunblade. Poor Squall... I bully him way too much. That's because he looks so fragile and feminine... mouhahahaha!
I know Nero's arm looks a little bit weird but it's actually normal. I tried to pose the same way as he did and my arm did that awkward bend.
Again, you can see the difference between the 3 figurines. Gabranth is the most shiny! Love his armor!

Nero: Ok dude, stop stabbing Squall. He probably is going to cry and brood forever after this.

We threw a sad funeral for Squall with wild weeds... I mean beautiful yellow flower and clover...
Nero makes a good mourner. He looks almost TOO sincere in his mourning. The color is so beautiful in this picture. Nero's costume is naturally this colorful.

Nero: ENOUGH! Stop. Taking. My. Pictures. Woman! Or I will go Devil May Cry on you!

Overall, Nero is a splendid figurine. He just looks so cool. I didn't do any photoshop (an essential skill I should learn one day...) so if you want to buy Nero, you won't regret it! He is prefect! ...and hot.
The gang and he are gonna stay forever by myself. I can't imagine giving them away. My precioussss. I would like to thank my friends for gifting me this expensive figurine. Love you guys!

Final Fantasy Gabranth Play Arts Kai

So Gabranth has arrived. This time I bought it from Robert Anime Corner Store because they offer the cheapest Gabranth there is! Trust me to find the cheapest goodies... I didn't buy from Things From Another World as I did with Squall because they don't have Gabranth. So I thought, why not give other online stores a try? So I scooped around and found Toylet. I saw they had Nero for $36.99 and Gabranth for $42.99 with $20 shipping for both. I was like okay, pretty fair and I get to buy Nero which is a rare nowadays. I read good reviews from them and ordered. Sadly, the store did a last minute check and both were sold out! I was very disappointed. My expectation was so high. They compensated their mistake with a 5% discount on one future purchase.
*Sigh* In the end, I bought Gabranth from RAC (They don't have Nero) for $36.99 + $14.99 shipping. It's still a good deal but I don't get to have Nero... *serious sulking going on*

Okay! So back to the magnificent Gabranth Play Arts Kai...

He is amazing. Utterly flawless! Squall sort of pale in comparison to his superb armor design. Look at the design of his armor and sword. Square Enix really did a good job with their blades. Even Squall's Gunblade looks really real.

You can also join Gabranth's two swords together by the butt. I had lots of fun testing it out! Gabranth's grip on the swords is much stronger than Squall's. Gabranth is also generally more firm and stable. Here is a back shot. The cape is beautiful. Don't you think it looks like it's bellowing? Splendid!

So stunning! The swords are truly a piece of arts. The gold embedded in the silver is just amazing!

Showdown with Squall! (Note: Yeah I took off Squall's white fluffy thingy around his waist because Squall's torso kept coming off... the ball joint around the waist is not very strong. Sad. Fortunately, Gabranth is very flexible. You can make him do a split! LOLOLOL)

Oh yes, the boys can switch blades. Squall can hold Gabrath's 2-in-1 sword pretty well. He won't be unbalanced by the weight. Gabrath on the other hand can hold the Gunblade but because of his hand position, the gunblade can only be held slanted. It's sort of weird but he can hold it.

For those who wonder about their height difference. There you go~ as well as how long the blades are. They are gorgeous, both the characters and the sword design. I have no regret buying them and photographed them like camfigurines! If you guys have any question about where to buy them, the reasonable price...etc. Or if you want to recommend me a superb figurine (Play Arts Kai), just comment below. I might be getting Snow Velliers or Ezio from Assassin Creed 2 (He looks so badass!)

Final Fantasy Dissidia Squall Play Arts Kai (Part 2)

So on August 23 2012, right after Squall arrived to my doorstep, I was immediately in love with this amazing figurine I got from TFAW. Seriously, he is really, really pose-able. I strongly recommend any figurine lover to buy one Play Arts Kai and try it out. You will love it. If you need help with any online figurine website, don't be shy and ask me. So let's see what other poses Squall can do...

Squall's articulation is perfect. Once you know where to twist, he can do any pose. When I saw him posing with his blade behind his head (on the back of the toy box), I immediately tested it out but his arm refused to bend backward. Today, I decided to give it a try and carefully rotated his shoulder-joint. TADA! He made it! Woohoo!

A front view of him holding his sword with two hands.

He is so cool when he wants to. I admit. He looks pretty girly compare to other anime heroes but as a sucker for cute guys, I just gotta fall head over heels for this brooding, angry fellow.

Squall admiring the sunset... always the lone wolf.
That was... before he toppled backward and fell down the stairs. Not rolling down the stairs. Literally plummeted down a 2 stories high stairs and shattered into 4 pieces (torso, bottom half, his white fluffy thing around his waist and his right hand). It was gruesome. Thank god Squall is a super hero and he was able to survive that dreadful fall. In reality, I used my superior Barbarian woman's strength to plop him back.

Save 40% on DC's New 52 Second Wave comics now!

AWW YEAAAHHH! That pose is just so boss! I'm still amazed he could stand on his own! Taking account gravity... this is really amazing.
Squall dumped Rinoa for Barbie (Facepalm)... that 'Love at first sight' staring contest... yummy!

In conclusion, I am very pleased with Squall. Good news is now that I tested out my very first Play Arts, I am going to purchase other figurines. He is slightly fragile compare to Gabranth (also from Final Fantasy Dissidia). Gabranth is the beast! I will be posting a review on that stunning figurine next week.

You really don't want to miss out on Gabranth! Look at that badass!
