Play Arts Kai Review: Nero, Gabranth & Squall

I've decided to take the boys (Play Arts Kai) out to play in the snow. They are just so cool posing there. Besides, the lighting was perfect. I mean it brings out the cold atmosphere. I particularly like Nero's photos. His colors blend very well with the snow. They are the first who stepped on the virgin snow in my backyard.

Awesome Play Arts Gabranth and Nero posing. I lost Nero's sword in the woods (when I was photographing him among the autumn leaves... sad...). He just has his gun left which I forgot to put it on him. Still, we had a great time freezing our feet off. Gabrath's wicked swords posing.

Gabranth is very worthy for the same price as the other figurines. I mean his armor is just siiiick. Squall looks dull in comparison. But Squall has a special spot in my heart since he was the very first Play Arts Kai I bought myself. Then I was gifted Nero from Devil May Cry 4 by my amazing friends on my birthday. So they all have the same importance to me and I love them all equally. I'm like their mommy... or pimp. Hahaha.

Didn't I tell you? Nero's colors are fantastic with this lighting. It makes him so much more alive. His clothes look so real than he would look like a real man if I took a pic of him from far away.

Nero is like "I'm sexy and I know it." My beautiful boy~

Nero fell into the snow. So freaking cute. "Save me... woman... stop taking embarrassing photo of me in misery. My honor... what would Dante say?" Speaking of Dante, I really should get a Dante too... just to spike Nero. Troll Era Fey.

I nicknamed Squall the lost, pretty boy. He looks so confused. Gosh his blue eyes are so pretty. They are like... sparkling with life. So beautiful.

I was posing him with his gunblade when he toppled backward. Dayum...

And there you go. My harem of very expensive and gorgeous boys. I will be posing more photos of them in different places when I have the chance.

I also bought Jeanne (from Bayonetta) and Snow (from Final Fantasy) and will be reviewing them shortly. Stay tune for more Play Arts Kai reviews, or you can check out older reviews in the link below.

Final Fantasy Dissidia Squall Play Arts Kai (Part 2)

So on August 23 2012, right after Squall arrived to my doorstep, I was immediately in love with this amazing figurine I got from TFAW. Seriously, he is really, really pose-able. I strongly recommend any figurine lover to buy one Play Arts Kai and try it out. You will love it. If you need help with any online figurine website, don't be shy and ask me. So let's see what other poses Squall can do...

Squall's articulation is perfect. Once you know where to twist, he can do any pose. When I saw him posing with his blade behind his head (on the back of the toy box), I immediately tested it out but his arm refused to bend backward. Today, I decided to give it a try and carefully rotated his shoulder-joint. TADA! He made it! Woohoo!

A front view of him holding his sword with two hands.

He is so cool when he wants to. I admit. He looks pretty girly compare to other anime heroes but as a sucker for cute guys, I just gotta fall head over heels for this brooding, angry fellow.

Squall admiring the sunset... always the lone wolf.
That was... before he toppled backward and fell down the stairs. Not rolling down the stairs. Literally plummeted down a 2 stories high stairs and shattered into 4 pieces (torso, bottom half, his white fluffy thing around his waist and his right hand). It was gruesome. Thank god Squall is a super hero and he was able to survive that dreadful fall. In reality, I used my superior Barbarian woman's strength to plop him back.

AWW YEAAAHHH! That pose is just so boss! I'm still amazed he could stand on his own! Taking account gravity... this is really amazing.
Squall dumped Rinoa for Barbie (Facepalm)... that 'Love at first sight' staring contest... yummy!

In conclusion, I am very pleased with Squall. Good news is now that I tested out my very first Play Arts, I am going to purchase other figurines. He is slightly fragile compare to Gabranth (also from Final Fantasy Dissidia). Gabranth is the beast! I will be posting a review on that stunning figurine next week.

You really don't want to miss out on Gabranth! Look at that badass!

Final Fantasy Dissidia Squall Play Arts Kai

After waiting 15 agonizing days, Squall finally arrived today! Alright, some quick background information! I got him from an online store called Things From Another World (TFAW) for $29.99 (with $8.80 shipping). It's an amazing deal compare to the retail price which is $49.99 and with crazy shipping fee of $14-25. I was prepared to spend that amount to get him. (One cannot just see and leave Squall alone) I was lucky to stumble upon TFAW who was selling the cheapest, genuine Squall Play Arts Kai. Shameless-self-praising!

When the package arrived, I was squealing my guts out. So this is how the packaging looks like. Pretty neat. Much to my relief, it's not a bootleg. Pheeww. Hope on online shopping: Restored. What's more... this last Squall TFAW had in store and I was surprised to see perfect condition of the box. Not a single rough corner or scratch. Very very impressive.

The action figure is just amazing. His eyes are ridiculously sharp and vivid. The details are flawless as well. I was handling him like a porcelain doll until I tried to pose him. That's when it got tricky and funny. I tried to articulate his waist and ended up snapping him in half. Thank the Lord it was ball-jointed and I was about to plop him back. I think my heart stopped for 5 seconds when I thought I ruined him. FOREVER. Viva Barbarian woman's strength.
Onward...

Other than the waist-fright I had, the rest of the body articulates pretty well. The legs are a little bit weird because his left leg is shorter than his right leg (he is supposed to be leaning his weight on one leg). But once you get the hang of it, he is super fun to play with.

One cannot take a picture of Squall without an ass shot.
Dat ass...

What more can I say about this beautiful specimen other than he is incredibly photogenic? I tried to get a shot of him from all sorts of angles and he still looks gorgeous. I absolutely love his face. The delicate lines and shape are just breathtaking.

He has a swag in his walk.

Squall doing auto-portrait.                                                        Squall as the Successful Kid
"I'm so pretty even though I am brooding..."                                                "Hell Yeah!"

It took me awhile to get used to his grip on the Gunblade. At first it was really awkward. It felt as though I might destroy his fingers if I force the handle on him but after a few daring tries, it actually works! So if you own this figure, don't be afraid to be a little bit rough on him. He can handle it. Rawrrr... The result is totally worthy. He looks so much badass now that he is holding his Lionheart.

Oh yeah that big Gunblade.... (if you know what I mean)
This shot was unintentional. I was just playing with the angles and I laughed wayyy too hard when I realize how awkward the angle was. Oh well~

Pretty boy Squall engaged a battle with the little people. I bought those guys from Renaud Bray years ago. They cost $6.99 each (I just tore out their price tags)

Musketeer 1: Bloody Hell! I got the giant in the arse!    Musketeer 2: Good work, mate! Let me join ya!

Epic Butt-stabbing.
Musketeer 2 looks very, very focused on a certain piece of ass. XD I don't blame him. Squall does have one fine butt.

After his sour defeat, Squall escapes the battle on his blue lamb. Brooding and angry.

The end.

If any of you are interested in buying anime/cartoon figurines, feel free to ask me. I spent a lot of time stalking each online website. I have some knowledge as to which website has whatnot (best deal). So it will save you time to search for them.
Since this Squall is the last from TFAW, you won't be finding any more there. But I do know where you can get the second cheapest.

Don't forget to subscribe! Good lads.
